China urges U.S. to stop "dangerous act" following U.S. approval of massive arms sales to Taiwan

BEIJING, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- The United States should immediately cease its dangerous act of arming Taiwan, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Thursday when commenting on the U.S. approval of a massive package of arms sales to the Taiwan region.

The U.S. side has brazenly announced the plan to sell advanced weapons to Taiwan, which seriously violates the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques, Guo said at a regular news briefing.

The U.S. move severely undermines China's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. It seriously disrupts peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and sends a gravely erroneous signal to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, Guo said.
