BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese mainland spokesperson Friday denounced U.S. lawmakers for passing a bill that threatened to ban the use of maps of China that include the Taiwan region.
Facts and laws have proved that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, noted Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.
The Taiwan-related part in the bill adopted by the U.S. House of Representatives laid bare the ignorance and sinister motives of certain congressmen, she added.
"We urge the U.S. side to abide by the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques and stop interfering in China's internal affairs," said the spokesperson.
The spokesperson also sent a solemn warning to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority in Taiwan, saying the DPP's attempts to bank on the United States in pursuit of "Taiwan independence" are doomed to fail.
