BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.4 percent, at 3,606.75 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.7 percent higher at 15,628.73 points.

JAKARTA -- The IDX Composite, an index of all stocks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in Jakarta, closed at 6,307.13 points on Friday, down by 106.77 points, or 1.66 percent against that on the previous trading day.

Approximately 17.16 billion shares worth more than 17.33 trillion Indonesian rupiahs (about 1.24 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed lower on Friday.

The benchmark S&P, BSE Sensex closed at 48,878.54, 746.22 points or 1.50 percent down compared to its previous close at 49,624.76.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Friday moved down 15.63 points, or 1.03 percent, to close at 1,497.88 points.

Some 29.07 billion shares worth 96.70 billion baht (about 3.24 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

HANOI -- The stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 240.12 points on Friday, down 0.16 points or 0.07 percent from the previous trading session.

Prices of 87 stocks went up, 122 stocks dropped, while 144 stocks remained unchanged.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished higher on Friday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index up 0.97 point, or 0.15 percent, to close at 643.72 points.

Among the seven trading stocks, the price of PPSP dropped by 2.07 percent to 0.34 dollar, ABC remained stable at 4.16 dollars, and PWSA rose by 2.33 percent to 1.51 dollars.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.85 percent, or 25.62 points, to close at 2,991.53.

The STI index went up 0.61 percent, or 18.38 points, to close at 3,017.15 on Thursday.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 1,166.78 points on Friday, up 2.57 points, or 0.22 percent against the previous trading day.

On Friday, VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 1,156.58 points, up 5.28 points or 0.46 percent.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,596.74, up 1.94 points, or 0.12 percent and the Emas was at 11,563.62, up 30.25 points, or 0.26 percent.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 479.91 points, or 1.60 percent, to 29,447.85 points on Friday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 29,413.52 and 29,862.89. Turnover totaled 244.19 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 31.51 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Friday as investors opted to secure recent gains following the Nikkei's 30-year closing high and hit the sidelines ahead of keenly awaited earnings reports due next week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 125.41 points, or 0.44 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 28,631.45.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand stock market's indicator, the S&P/NZX 50 index, jumped by 1.69 percent to 13,333 on Friday.

The jump was led by Southern Charter Financial Group Limited, which went up by 100 percent to 0.004 NZ dollars (0.0029 U.S. dollars), while New Talisman Gold Mines Limited dropped by 16.67 percent to 0.005 NZ dollars.

SEOUL -- South Korean stocks ended lower Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) dipped 20.21 points, or 0.64 percent, to settle at 3,140.63. Trading volume stood at 1.09 billion shares worth 24 trillion won (21.7 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market rose 1.27 percent for the week despite ending lower on Friday.

At the market close the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was down 23.30 points or 0.34 percent at 6,800.40, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 28.20 points or 0.40 percent at 7,078.90.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 1.32 percent lower on Friday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 94.46 points to 7,045.83. The all-share index went down by 39.29 points, or 0.92 percent, to 4,241.69.
