Divorce for Karl Rove and wife

Karl Rove, former top aide and campaign manager for former President George W. Bush has been divorced from his wife.

The divorce granted to Rove and his wife of twenty four years, Darby, was granted by a judge in Texas last week.

The couple (pictured), who have one son, were married in January 1986.

"The couple came to the decision mutually and amicably, and they maintain a close relationship and a strong friendship. There will be no further comment and the family requests that its privacy be respected," Dana Perino, a family friend, told media on Wednesday.

The couple spent Christmas with their son, and reportedly remain close friends.

Rove spent many years with Bush when he was governor of Texas, and later as president. He was often credited with strategies that catapulted Bush to the White House, and for winning a second term.
