First class air travel in the past for BA
Taiwan News.Net Tuesday 29th December, 2009
British Airways has announced it will abandon some global first-class services on a number of its routes, due to the ever-rising standards of luxury offered by rivals.
Several Middle Eastern and Asian market carriers, have lifted their first-class standards to feature individual cabins with doors for privacy, double beds and giant flat-screen TV’s.
BA has decided that the new Boeing 777 aircraft, of which it will take delivery next year, will have no first-class service.
The airline will maintain the service on its Airbus A380s, which are due to arrive in 2012, but it is expected BA will drop the first-class cabin from its new fleet of Boeing 787’s when they are finally delivered.
Some other carriers have also given up the first-class flights, unable to compete with Asian and Middle Eastern rivals in the battle for rich passengers. Email this story to a friend
